About The Center A Drop-In Community

The Center: A The Drop-In Community Learning & Resource Center is one of three licensed school-age childcare facilities located and serving the communities within the city of New London to promote successful youth and family development. In today’s increasingly complex world our youth need bridges of learning to be fully prepared to accept the roles and responsibilities needed to be successful community members. As such, we have built a unique holistic experience and tradition over the past (48) forty-eight years and continue to strategically evolve our design to offer relevant educational and enrichment programming to meet the needs of our youth and families; most urgently the economically disadvantaged working families. Keeping the students engaged in learning during out of school time is vital to their overall education as well as providing essential supervision during the times their guardians/caregivers are working. Our goals and objectives for this program are to continue to enhance the education of area youth by providing comprehensive learning opportunities at affordable prices during these hours. The Summer Enrichment Program includes Before Care hours to bridge and extend learning for students in safe environment during an eight week period in which schools are in summer recess from June – August . We focus on fostering greater academic understanding of science, math and language arts subjects by incorporating academic instruction in the mornings and cultural and recreational enrichment activities in the afternoons based on weekly themes.
